ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
General Entry Requirement
Admission to the National Diploma in Electrical Engineering at Uganda Technical College Bushenyi shall be done in accordance with the regulations of the National Council for Higher Education or any such statutory body that the Government shall assign this legal mandate from time to time.
Specific Entry Requirements
(a) (i) Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least five (05) passes two of which must be in Physics and Mathematics; and
(ii) Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with at least One (01) Principal Pass in either Physics or Mathematics and Two (02) Subsidiary Passes from science subjects taken at Principal Level obtained at the same sitting or its equivalent. For purposes of computing entry points, the advanced level subjects shall be classified as follows:
§ Essential – Physics and Mathematics
§ Relevant – Chemistry, Economics
§ Desirable – General Paper, Any other Science/Technical subject taken at subsidiary level.
(b) (i) Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least three (03) passes two of which must be in Physics and Mathematics; and
(ii) Advanced Craft Certificate or a National craft certificate from a recognized institution with proven practical experience of at least two (02) years in any of the following fields:
§ Electrical Engineering;
§ Electrical installation;
§ Telecommunications Engineering
§ Information and Communications Technology (ICT);
§ Radio and Television Electronic Engineering; and
§ Any other Engineering field as approved by the Admissions Board of the Uganda Technical College.
(c) Diploma in an Engineering or Physical Science field from a recognized institution.
(d) Bachelor’s degree in the Physical Sciences from a recognised institution.
(e) Any other qualification as approved by the regulatory bodies of the East
African Community States.
ACADEMIC PROSPECTS FOR NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
Graduates of National Diploma in Electrical Engineering program may opt to further their skills and education by offering to join:
(i) Higher National Diploma program in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering;
(ii) Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Engineering; and
(iii) Bachelor‘s degree in other Engineering fields or Physical Sciences.
SHORT COURSE OFFERED
The department offers short tailored courses targeting the secondary school holidaymakers and other interested people. These include;
1- Satellite dish installation and maintenance 2 weeks
2- Solar installation and maintenance                   2 months
